WhenI was younger (6+ years ago) and working as a waitress without any medicalinsurance I thought I was getting a kidney infection. (i had a very bad one theprevious year while still on my dad’s insurance) I called urgent care and theER and asked how much it would be to come in (I made sure to fully explain thatI had no insurance). I was told I had to go to the ER to be treated and itwould be about $150.00 - $250.00. I was able to afford this so I went. They rana bunch of test each time a asked how much it was. in the end they found Ididn't have a kidney infection. They had already shot me with antibiotics andother medication I did not need and brought me a bill for almost $4000.00!!!80% of this bill was not for test or medication. Most of the bill was just forthe time a sat in the bed. Had they told me that’s what it would cost I neverwould have gone. I did not pay the bill because i did not have the means to doso. I am now trying to repair my credit. It will be almost 2 years before it isoff my credit. I don’t want to wait that long. I am wondering If I should senda debt validation letter or if medical debt can usually be deleted with a payfor delete letter at a very low amount? just started looking at my credit and Iam still very confused by the whole process. any advise would be greatlyappreciated.
