Hello, I got a letter from Pinnacle financial claiming they have recently bought a debt of 10,900 from Citibank. I did have a card that I didn't pay off (an ex-girlfriend ran it up and I wasn't in a situation to pay it off until possibly now). They offered that I could settle for 3,200$ and I'd have to pay via check or card. The letter says that the account will be considered settled in full & i'll be released from any further financial liability concerning repayment of that account. I checked my credit report and the debt is indeed owned by Pinnacle Credit Services LLC. Is there something I should ask them to send (in writing) before I make a payment (and if I should try negotiating it lower from the amount)? Also, is there any way to ensure that it's not reported as a negative account once I settle? Thank you.
