Hey guys I need some advice here, Me my wife and my mom have all been called today by Sunrise credit services out of New York about a debt that is well over ten years old. Debt is either from 1999-2000 I didnt answer when they called me. My wife answered and was told they needed to speak with me about a old debt, and told her who the debt was with (i didnt even know my wife way back than) They called my mom wanted her to give my info (which she didnt do) the lady than told her well we will take legal action against you than since you co- signed , she told them she had no idea what this was about and hung up. They are calling from a local # which I assume they are spoofing, and they leave a 800# to call back at (this is why my mom and wife answered, saw a local #) Now this debt is well over ten years old, statue of limitations in Texas looks like 4 or 5 years on a debt. I have never made a payment, payment agreement etc on this debt so I know they cant legaly restart the date. My question is what should I do? Do I send them a valadation letter? Or a sol letter? I've never had to do either and I want to be careful and send the right stuff and not screw up, as they are after some crazy amount of like $13,000! This is not currently on my credit report. Thanks for any advice.
I think Texas has some tough laws about this. I put it in your subject line, hopefully, one of the TX experts will chime in.

SOL in Texas is 4 years. I would do a search for FOAD and send them one of those letters.
