I am beside myself!!!!!! I AM the worlds biggest Crap One hater after all that they have put me through now they own not one but TWO credit cards that I hold!!!!!!! Someone please wake me up from this NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to lose 2 accounts that I have had for years but I CANNOT allow Crap one to play in MY wallet!!!!!!!!! As if that wasn't bad enough, I open the rest of my mail today and get a letter from Merrick, NO MORE HOOTERS CARD!!!!!!!! What is this world coming to????????
Apparently you haven't been around the boards lately? It's been talked about for quite some time that Capt one brought out HSBC I wanna say back in February/March?

No one thinks this is going too be good, they CLD my best buy by 1300,and who knows what they are going too due to my hsbc mastercard, they are scum

Beli, No I haven't been around here shame on me huh? I can't afford to lose these two cards, I know Merrick which is who backed Hooters is going to chop me, they are famous for it so I know that one is gone! I am about to lose 3 tradelines!

And the bad part about this is, I found Crap one on my reports and DISPUTED it!!!!!!!!!! UH DUHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

---

eeek I actually wondered this the other day, my reporting changed and I got my letter from them telling me about it several days later. How many people out there are not going to realize the change happen (missed the letter, etc) and then end up disputing thinking its identity theft. Heh

Why is everybody so pessimistic? Why don't we wait nd just see? Personally I believe Cap One will not chop or increase your rates if you pay ontime or do something crazy with your credit cards. I haven't dealt with them but I think I will be good since my HSBC weekend card was transfer to them...

I agree. Terms aren't changing. Everything is remaining per the current terms. HSBC wanted to get out of the US Credit Card market and so they sold all of their accounts to Capital One. This is simply a transfer, just like is common for installment loans (especially student and auto loans). At this point, there are no changes in the terms. In addition, I received my letter for my Orchard card prior to the change on my credit report. The letter for my HSBC discover appeared a day after it reported.

I can't say for anyone else but I've certainly notice a whole lot more softs from cap1 recently, maybe they will do nothing who knows. They certainly are looking around though.. or maybe they are just obsessed with me heh.

Seek out my past post on Crap One and you will see exactly why I DO NOT want them in my wallet EVER again!

if your hate cap one that much ,close them ,its that easy they won't mind if u do. did u even read the whole letter from Merrick? they are replacing your hooters master card with a visa card with the Merrick bank logo on it

if your hate cap one that much ,close them ,its that easy they won't mind if u do. did u even read the whole letter from Merrick? they are replacing your hooters master card with a visa card with the Merrick bank logo on it +1 That's what I did, I closed Crap One card last year, after I found out about the take over, closed 1 Household card from 2006 last year and next month will be closing my one and only oldest Household card from 2002, all had annual fees and I will not be looking back.

Sounds like its either time to close or let by gones be by gones. At some point in the future the age of the accounts or quibble with Cap1 will presumably seem a lot less important to hold on to. Perhaps just keep the oldest of the two for now.
