Just did my daily MPM pull and I noticed I have a fraud alert!! It says it was requested by consumer, although I never requested it. What the hell? Good news, I.C. Systems was gone off equifax... Score didnt change any though. I wonder if it has something to do with this fraud alert. Any insight? TU and EX are fraud alert free (for now) if it's not one thing it's another
FA often are the result of disputes that claim an account is "not mine" or that an address does not belong to you. They seem more common with online disputes too. Usually a FA on one gets transmitted to the other three

Also disputing an inquiry will cause this (ask me how I know). Fraud alerts are about the only thing shared among the bureaus.

I haven't disputed anything as 'not mine' and I also haven't disputed any inquiries. I did however get lazy an dispute online... Only once because it didn't yeld good results. Where do I go from here? Write them and say I'm not a fraud victim? I'm so annoyed by this. Especially when it says I requested it!!

is it a 90 day alert? if so, I'd just let it run its course.

I just spent the last 3 months dealing with EQ on this... its a huge pain in the A**. I can't say what for sure caused mine, though I suspect it was when i was working on getting an address removed. (Never disputed on-line, never disputed INQ's) Though my Fraud Alert never transferred to EX and TU even though the letter from EQ said they would notify other CRA's.... I sent EQ a nice letter explained that I never requested a fraud alert, and to the best of my knowledge I had not be the victim of fraud or identity theft. (also included the standard copy of driver license and recent utility bill for identification purposes.) They rewarded my efforts by putting an extended fraud alert in addition to the 90 day one. So now my "Consumer Statements" Section said that I had requested both a fraud alert and a extended fraud alert.... AWESOME except I never requested ether. I sent them another letter explaining that I had never requested any type of fraud alert, notation or otherwise and again to the best of my knowledge I was not currently or previously the victim of identity theft or fraud. They responded by removing the regular 90 variety but let me keep the extended variety. I then sent another letter notifying them that if they did not remove all fraud notations and alerts I would be froced to file suite as they where reporting false information specifically that it said "Consumer requested extended fraud alert". After 30 days from arrival of the letter they had done nothing, being that I have a close family member that is an attorney I asked for their assistance and they helped me file complaint at the local court. The same day they where served they sent me a letter stating that I had not provided enough identification and that was why they had not removed the fraud alert. The letter which seamed to actually be written manually as opposed to a form letter specifly requested a copy of my DL and my SS Card to properly prove my identity. I sent them a final request in response with a copy of their letter, copies of requested documents and another copy of the complaint. They removed all fraud notes about 24 hours after the letter showed as delivered and I withdrew my complaint. It was a whole pile of effort and time and I kinda wished I had just let the 90 days run out since it would have run out about 2 weeks before I finally got it all removed.

I'm not sure if it is a 90 day one or not. How would one find out? I guess I'm just going to let it play it's course. Maybe they're grumpy at all of the progress I've made. (almost 100 points and nearly clean report) I don't need any credit right now anyway. Thanks for the responses!!

I think if its the 90 it just says fraud alert, if its the long one it will specifically say "Extended Fraud Alert". The crappy thing about the FA is they wont processes disputes because they will tell you to send a police report for the fraud/identity theft.... So it can screw up the timing of a 1-2 punch.
