Discover CLI online - Soft or Hard?

I would like to request CLI from Discover, but I do not need hard pull. I see there is "request credit line increase" link online. If I use link is it soft or hard inquiry and what is usual CLI amount?
It's a soft pull. You ask for how much you want. They either come back with a yes, no, OR "sorry we can't give you what you asked for, but we can offer you [say $500]. Is this OK?" If you say yes, you get the smaller CLI with no pull. If you say no, you can move on to a CSR to negotiate what you asked for, but then you get a hard pull.

I have the button today also. Curious... Wanted to add that I am 4 days short of my 6 month mark with them and do not recall seeing that button before today. Had an auto CLI at 3mo.

You guys totally made me look. But I knew I wouldn't have one, because it's only been 5 months since I requested a CLI. I it should reappear next month.

Are they keeping this info on record or they use them to calculate CLI? What will happen if I enter higher income?

The rest of your questions, I have no idea.

I have 7.5K How much should I ask to be approved for CLI? 2.5K or less?

---

Button popped up for me... I am at 8.25k.... requested 14.5k. It immediately said that it would require a pull from the CRA's to process my request, to which I said no.

---

Put in whatever you want. What you're approved for depends on many factors that we here are not privy to. You will not get a specific answer here as to how much you personally will be approved for. Could be $500, could be $2,500, could be nothing. There's no way for us to know.

Made a smaller request to try again, .. (10.5k). again said they would want to pull a hard

---

fml does that mean you were hardpulled? or denied with a soft?

---

FWIW Discover just gave me an unsolicited CLI of $1,200 last month. I'm now at $7,100. This 5 months after Citi refused to issue me any card whatsoever.....FYI real fico of 696 with utilization of 54% before CLI.

fml does that mean you were hardpulled? or denied with a soft? That means I can't ask for a raise via the website.

Interesting - I can't even get to discover.com right now - get an error out of DNS. Anyone else having similar probs?

Hard...500.00 to 3000.00

Did they not do the usual "counter with a smaller CLI for a soft, negotiate for larger CLI w/CSR for a hard" routine?

---

That is a nice CLI

Did they not do the usual "counter with a smaller CLI for a soft, negotiate for larger CLI w/CSR for a hard" routine? NO, I was denied, I only have 1 baddie on that one but the system denied me. Waited for a Credit guy, he did a manual review and said my credit looked fine, asked me what I wanted and said 3k but should have said 5k.

Congrats! Baby steps.

I'm so glad for this post. The "Request Increase" button appeared for me today. I filled out the form which asked for employer name, income, housing payment. I was a little nervous because my length of time in my current apt and my current employer are both less than 2 years. However, I got instant approval! I typed up the response verbatim.

If the online form is unavailable, you can call (800) DISCOVER and hit the phone option for it. You can get a soft pull by robot (takes all your info), soft pull counter by robot (offer you less than you asked for), or get sent straight to a human. If you get sent to a human, they'll take your info again, and then if there's a hard pull they'll give you a credit report pull disclosure (you can decline if you don't want a hard). No online request for me available, got a pretty decent one by phone.
