Hey everyone, I was looking over my Experian credit report and noticed LVNV on there! Now they are trying to collect a debt that was from Capital One from 7-8 years ago and is no longer on my credit. What should I do about this. It seems that LVNV got on my report in 2011! This upsets me because now I have a collections account my report witch I've been working so hard to clean up since 2008. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated...
Need more info..... Your state SOL on debt? Do they have to be listed with your SOS? DOLA? Is this your dunning letter?

Well I live in California so the SOL is 4 years I dont know what SOS is... DOLA on the report says 5/2012 I dont know what dunning letter is...

dv them with the facts that it is 7 years old and out of the reporting period. Tell them if its not removed you will seek legal action under the fcra.

Just to make sure, I should let them know that the Capitol One account is 7 years old right? What worries me is that LVNV started reporting this last year with Capital One already being off of my credit report.

Hi Stephen, Do you have hard copies of older and the newest credit reports? ICANHASMUNY? has a very good letter you can send to LVNV. I would send nice a letter to Experian stating the SOL for reporting has past and enclose a copy of an old credit report. Next I would send a letter to the BBB and SC's AG with a factual complaint about LVNV.

Debt collectors do not have to be bonded in California.

I feel like I'm being screwed. I've been working so hard to get the credit I have in my sig and I'm trying to get more. In a way I feel like my hands are tied.
