I have been reading and reading the endless Verizon threads here and I apologize for being repetitive, but part of the issue with there being so much talk about Verizon is that most of it is about how relentless they are about sticking on CRAs.
A charge off is listed by Verizon and it says it went to collections but only the OC (Verizon) is reporting. I am also not responsible for this payment, but I have very little proof. I have a confirmation number from a phone rep conversation, and a bill from DIRECT TV with whom the service was bundled showing a partial credit. I also have an angry letter I sent them years ago about their overcharges that they never answered.
My plan was to ask the OC to verify and when I get the return receipt ask the CRA to verify. Then I guess I was going to corporate bomb. (Any addresses would be much appreciated.)
So in my verifying 623 letter I was just going to make a long list of verifying questions like "where is the legal document with my signature," "what is the date of my last activity?" etc etc. However how do get them to identify my account without giving them information they might not have such as my correct name spelling, account number (it ends with XXXX on the CRAs), and correct address? I have several name spellings and old or typo-ed incorrect addresses I have disputed, but I have no way of knowing if Verizon was reporting one of them. I don't want to give them any information that would help them verify with the CRAs later, but at the same time I can't expect them to stop reporting an account they can't find.
Thank you for any advice.
On my CR from EX it has the name code and address that the company reported used. You should be able to tell what name and address they used by that.

Thank you! It did show the address code. It didn't show the name though I guess it would be the same one they use on old bills.
Any ideas about whether I should give them the full account number?

I doubt they will be able to help you at all without an account number. I would give them that if it was me.

Bumping my letter for some honest thoughts. I most likely will split it into two letters.

Can anyone spare a few minutes to help a N00b with her letter (two posts up?)?

Is this not the right situation for a Jack Attack? Is it a poor example of a Jack Attack? Would I have better luck just complaining about their representatives offering credits and confirming zero balances while sending big bills and marking up my credit report and ccing BBB?
