I'm taking a closer look at my prior TransUnion reports, and I realized that TU coded CREDIT MONITORING and WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION back in 2008 for me. This was before Credit Karma implemented changes, but in 2008 I had 11 Credit Karmas counting towards the TU 63. The following is from my July 6, 2008 TransUnion report: Hard inquiry Total = 1: BARCLAYS BANK DELAWARE 07/03/2008 Soft inquiries Total = 62: Bob M Wang via TRANSUNION INTERACTIVE I (2) CONSUMERINFO via CONSUMER INFO.COM (43) Permissible Purpose: CONSUMER REQUEST 45 BOB M WANG via TRANSUNION INTERACTIVE I (3) TRANSUNION INTERACTIVE I (2) Permissible Purpose: CREDIT MONITORING 05 CONSUMER INFO.COM 18500 VON KARMAN A (1) CREDITKARMA via CREDIT KARMA INC (11) Permissible Purpose: WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION 12
Do you think everyone got the chop or just a large group?

Not everyone got chopped, many escaped.

Bob, to sum this: All TU inqs counts towards 65, regardless of what's the notation - written authorization, PP, whatever. We are all ok, and can continue B*....just, annually, the inqs will rise up from the dead, only to be wiped off within a month. Something like that? VK

---

No, VK, ONLY the "PERMISSIBLE PURPOSE:" soft inquiries count. The additional notation of "CONSUMER REQUEST", "WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION" etc., doesn't seem to matter. Bob

So does a USAA-CCMP daily pull no longer get coded as a permissible purpose?

---

It's still a "Permissible Purpose: CONSUMER REQUEST" I have USAA-CCMP and CreditSecure. USAA appears as: CONSUMERINFO VIA CONSUMER INFO.COM 18500 VON KARMN A #900 IRVINE, CA 92612 Phone number not available Requested On: 04/2010 Permissible Purpose: CONSUMER REQUEST CreditSecure (should be the same as CCT): CONSUMERINFO VIA CONSUMER INFO.COM 18500 VON KARMN A #900 IRVINE, CA 92612 Phone number not available Requested On: 04/2010 Permissible Purpose: CONSUMER REQUEST

Interesting info. I have a feeling my added INQ will be gone shortly...

I have 3 soft inquiries from 7/2008 that need to go before my oldest hard inquiry of 7/2008. Should see some action soon if all "Permissible Purpose" inquiries count:

BMW, what cool initials. Though it sounds made up

I quite sure you're right, GGE. I'll see tomorrow if you've been selectively targeted for the mergers.

Bob - I know this has been rehashed over and over again, but I am sorely confused about what is going on with the reappearance of TU inquiries. I currently have 6 TU and 14 EQ My pullers are MPM CCT USAA / I am not eligible for CS. Any thoughts? It looks like I'm running out of options here....

---

What happened with the inquiries coming back was that all of the CONSUMERINFO.COM softs from CCT and USAA, which used to leave one soft EACH per day, were merged into one soft per day, period. This allowed some inquiries, soft and hard, to come back temporarily. They will be B*'d back off but now CCT and USAA overwrite one another on TU like they always have on EQ, so it is no longer possible to get more than one daily soft on TU as far as we know. Bob expects to confirm once and for all the merging of the CIC softs and the overwriting of new CIC softs later today. Once that happens, there will be no B*-related reason pertaining to TU nor EQ that will make it reasonable to have both CCT and USAA. At that time I will drop CCT since it costs me $5 per month more than USAA. Hope that helps.

---

So in that case, we will have to use mpm and USAA or CCT?

---

Some people who just use CS have reported that their TU inquiries have returned.
